Games to Pass the Time In-Flight (on my iPad, but most are avaliable elsewhere)
I found there’s a bunch of interest in iPad games every time I’ve tweet either my frustration or successes with them. Here’s what’s currently on my iPad and in-play. Some of these have been suggested to me and I forgot who suggested what, so if you were the source of the game, send me a note and I’ll add you to this post.
1. Ridiculous Fishing (or, “CURSE YOU STEGGO!”)
Ridiculous Fishing is a game where you search the seven (well, I think there’s only five in the game) seas for the finest of fish. There is a plot and an “ending” to the game, but for me, the ending was succeeding in finding every single type of fish in the game.
How do you fish in the game?
By reeling them in and…
Shooting them out of the sky with a shotgun?
You fish by rocking the iPad back and forth to catch the fishes you want. Then tap the fish to blast them out of the sky.
Trust me, it is a ton of fun. I got stuck with one fish left, and played for over two weeks just trying to find that fish. It got my attention for that long, though I have to admit, I got frustrated near the end and tweeted the game maker. (I am apparently the only one who’s ever contacted them about that fish, Steggo. It is a more common one, and I somehow got all the crazy tricky ones!).
This game has a note that there is mild nudity in it in the iPad store. Please note that the nudity they refer to is the same in the screenshot above. A pixelated shirtless fisherman (oh no! my eyes!)
I tried to explain this game to Keri and got a weird look. See, your house is getting attacked by zombies and you plant different flowers to defend yourself against them.
Sigh, you are giving me that look Keri gives me.
It is sort-of a tower defense game, but comes with a lot of mini-games like zombie bowling, and some strange bejeweled-like attack game that just works, trust me.
Plus, there are different kinds of Zombies they introduce, which ends up being pretty amusing.
You own planes and fly around the world transporting cargo and passengers–but you need to build up your own airline empire one leg at a time. This game is a fun time passer. You don’t play it constantly–rather, you take moves about every five minutes to put the planes into motion.
I like to play this game while reading on my kindle. (I read sorta quickly so I like having something to make the books last longer).
It is one of those games that encourages you to buy-in-app money, but I never have and haven’t seen it affect the pace of play. In fact, I think that if you purchased in-app money, it would make the game play kind of boring.
I did get a little shaken when I saw someone very similar to me departing from Quebec City…
Luckily, I was the most profitable of the crew, so I scooped myself up and delivered myself to Canada. I assume I was visiting my family.
I loved this flash game but never realized it was actually in the app store because I kept spelling it incorrectly (I want to call it infectionator).
You are some sort of Zombie King or just a sadist who wants the entire world to become zombies. I’m not sure, so I think this game needs a prequel so I can learn my motivation!
Either way, for some reason, you want to take over the world with Zombies. You can drop zombie viruses and zombie minions into different cities, attempting to destroy them.
The zombie minions are pretty amusing and get unlocked as you play. I won’t go too much into them because I’d be giving out spoilers.
Somehow, when zombies push a car, it bursts into flames. I won’t question it. I guess it is a different type of zombie-lore than I’m used to.
This is definitely the game that gets me the weirdest looks on the plane (as opposed to pocket planes, which probably gets the most smiles), but I can’t help but enjoy and play this game!
I meant to ask!: what games do you recommend for me?
