Fun New Feature in October’s Birchbox

It figures October’s Birchbox would arrive the day I was leaving town, so I didn’t get a chance to check it out until this morning. I continue to be pretty happy and pretty stuck keeping all 3 subscriptions to Birchbox, Glossybox, and Sample Society.

It was pretty promising at first glance — “a box devoted to award winners, celeb favorites, up-and-comers…”

First glance inside I was a little less certain I’d like it but still hopeful…perhaps it was the sparse feel and cheap looking plastic bag that threw me? (Even though that wound up being the highlight)

But the first item I picked up made me happy — DDF Wrinkle Plus Pore Minimizer Moisturizing Serum. Not quite a great travel shape or size, but definitely an appealing product.

Next up was a slightly confusing wax paper wrapped postcard? It wound up being a cleverly packaged tiny bottle of Atelier Cologne in Orange Sanguine. Now as you might know, I’m not a huge fan of scents, with the exception of my recent BCBG discovery in the September Glossybox. But this had a pleasant citrus, slightly vanilla scent, so maybe I’ll give it a try.

And then I opened the little orange pouch to discover a little bottle of Alison Raffaele Reality Base Foundation. Travel’s been rather tough on me this month, so perhaps this will come in handy. And….what looked like shockingly pink lip gloss from POP Beauty.

When applied it actually came out a delicate, almost natural shade. And I kind of dug the soft plastic applicator which gets less messed up than a little brush.

And then the highlight! The cheap plastic bag! In all seriousness, I’m very excited about it. It’s a new feature called Birchbox Find, “a mass-market discovery we think is just plain awesome”, which comes in addition to the usual samples. In this case it was a tube of 8 hour hydration lock ChapStick with a $1 off coupon. Yes please! I can’t wait to see what else comes too.

Now only if the bag was sturdy enough to be a fun patterned freedom baggie for TSA. Sadly I almost ripped the back apart trying to unzip it.

If you’re as delighted with the Birchbox Find as I am, or any other products, and want to sign up at $10 a month, feel free to use my referral link!

I also just radically changed my profile to see how that would affect what I get, so would love to know how others’ shipments this month varied.

Disclaimer: If you sign up using my link above, I’ll receive 50 birchbox points. If you review your Birchbox shipments, you can also get 50 points each month (worth $5 in store credit). If you think I should be wearing bright pink lip gloss, (you know who you are) I respectfully disagree.
