Almost Free 1 Day Weekend Rental at Hertz

a yellow rectangular sign with black text

This just popped up in my Slickdeals feed. fantasy15 has discovered another Hertz.com coupon that gets you $25 off a rental through December 31.

So if you’re lucky enough to find a weekend rental for $25 or less with RQ code: VSTPTE ($14.99 weekend rental code), use PC code: 185301 to take $25 off your rental, leaving you only with taxes and fees.

The taxes can be a  killer though. I priced this for an upcoming weekend trip where a car would be nice but necessary and the $20 in airport taxes made it not worth it.

Also note last time this happened, thousands of people booked and Hertz cancelled many of the reservations, so don’t make any other non-refundable plans based on this.

  1. I just made a one day reservation using the above codes. The car was $17.99 and they gave me a “coupon credit” of $17.99 so the total rental is $12.99 (which are the fees and taxes only). LOVE THIS!!!! Now will they cancel it? I am hertz gold – have been for 15 years or so. Rent 10+ times a year and have never had one cancelled…..will this be the first? We’ll see. I got the confirmation email already – so they better be ready for a fight if they do cancel.
    Thanks for posting this!

    1. Be careful, some people are reporting being put on a DO NOT RENT list. I don’t know what Hertz is thinking, but they need to honor their codes and the paper vouchers that they circulate all over to get people to rent their cars. Hertz is a terrible company.

  2. The PC number is attached to a CDP number which is to a specific Corporate account. In order to apply the PC they will ask you for ID. Just like if you were using a AAA discount you will need to show your AAA card. Your reservation means nothing till you show proof you are eligible. Try booking a room at a hotel under the government rate. When you check in if you have no ID you will not get the rate.

  3. Blogger strike again

Today Hertz sent an email stating that this coupon has now been desactivated.

Thanks for publicizing something that did not need any public attention. This coupon had been working for the last 9 months flawlessly without them asking for any physical coupon.

With boatload of people jumping on this one, it was bound to make Hertz people nervous. Endresult: everyone now has nothing. Awesome bloggers.

Next time, brain first, heels second.
