February’s Birchbox: Partnership With US Weekly

I didn’t realize that Birchbox had teamed up with US Weekly for this month’s selection until I saw the packaging. But regardless of whether you’re a fan of US Weekly, you should always be excited by these partnerships.

As I learned from one of my favorite beauty bloggers, partnerships usually mean a better selection because another brand is putting their reputation on the line. And that’s pretty much held true with my past experiences with The Man Repeller, Goop, and Byrdie to name a few.

I liked 3 of the 5 items, but the low score has more to do with personal preference than lack of quality. The item I was most excited about SARAHPOTEMPA’s The HALF-UP, wasn’t even that expensive, only $9, but not something I’d buy without a trial.

I did try it out during my lunch break and in 2 minutes had a rather dressy looking bun going. 🙂

I was also excited to see see a tube of Three Whishes Body Butter. I love all lotions with butter, brulee, or cream in the title and I’ve recently become a fan of Whish Clarifying lotion which I alternate with Evologie to control breakouts. The Paula’s Choice RESIST antioxident serum ($26.95) was also of interest.

I was less excited by the W3LL People Universalist Multi-Use Color Stick in #8 Dusty Rose ($33) which apparently can be used on lips, cheeks, and eyes. I don’t wear blush, nor do I wear pink eyeshadow, but maybe it will work for my lips.

And then there was my pet-peeve, which I won’t even recognize with a photo. Tea bags. High end tea bags, but “food” all the same. I feel like I’ve wasted a sample when I get food products instead of beauty.

Still, quite a good deal for only $10! If you’re interested in signing up for Birchbox, consider using my referral link to help me boost my Birchbox points balance. 🙂
