The April Birchbox Brought…Food

a box with a box of beauty products

So it’s not really a big deal, but I’m never thrilled when my Birchbox contains a food item or tea bag in place of a 5th beauty item.

It’s not that I don’t like food or tea, goodness knows I do. But I subscribed to Birchbox to try new travel size beauty products. Snacks and tea I have much easier access to.

I was even more disappointed because I’ve filled out my profile to try to avoid these things.

Funnily enough they also included a little card with ideas for a rainy day, as if they knew the food had rained on my parade. 😉

Ha. The remaining 4 items were pretty good. One I didn’t even know existed. Though I won’t have a use for the Anastasia Beverly Hills Clear Brow Gel, it was rather neat to know such a thing existed.

The Davines Oi Shampoo + Oi Conditioner made of roucou oil to cleanse, protect, and add shine was up next. Not only an interesting product, but also a nice size sample — enough for at least 2-3 washings.

The last two were my favorites. A generous (but still travel size) bottle of BeeKind Body Lotion made with honey and organic chamomile. And a little bottle of Shea Terra Organics Rose Hips Black Soap Deep Pore Facial Cleanser. A little worried that deep pore might mean “drying” but it smells great and I can’t wait to try it!

In the end I’m reconciled to the  Maple Pumpkin Seeds with Sea Salt, because I’ll fill out my Birchbox reviews and get $5 towards the purchase of things I actually do want 🙂

If you’re considering signing up for Birchbox I’d love it if you’d use my referral link (which will give me another $5 towards non-food products)!

Did everyone else get food as well?

    1. That’s an excellent point! I was so fixated on having not selected food options I didn’t even think about that loophole.
