The World’s Tallest Holiday Inn Isn’t Where You Think

Or maybe it is. I hear “world’s tallest <insert name>” and Dubai immediately comes to mind. But this time, Manhattan takes the (dubious?) prize for the world’s tallest Holiday Inn.

According to the USA Today article, the Holiday Inn Manhattan-Financial District which opened last month is 50 stories, 453 feet tall. I’ll be interested to see what folks think of it and what the views are like.

I’m actually a huge fan of the Holiday Inn Long Island City Manhattan View hotel, which features a suite on the top floor with floor to ceiling windows on three sides overlooking Manhattan.

  1. I have stayed in the top floor suite. I frequently stayed in Marriott hotels. I must have been upgraded. I would never have requested it. I have a fear of heights. I remember the spectacular views. You ‘feel’ the height. I forget if the elevator opens up directly into the suite. I think it did.

I called a few people I knew. It was a real hoot.
