Eyewitness Account of Nepal Earthquake and Trying to Get Home

a large crowd of people

One of my travel friends and author of Wanderlusty, was in Nepal last week for vacation. He was in Kathmandu when the earthquake struck and was able to send updates on the heart wrenching situation over the weekend through a series of tweets and photos.

He’s now written up his experience so far (he’s still trying to get home) and it’s worth reading. It provides a real sense of what it’s like to be in that situation in a way no news story ever can. I’m so glad he was one of the lucky ones and my thoughts and prayers are with him and with those even less fortunate.

You can follow his attempts to get home (and send encouragement) via Twitter at @jonk.
