Some of my best nights’ sleep have been at a Radisson Airport property and the RadissonBlue Zurich Airport Hotel was no exception.a group of luggage carts in a room

The RadissonBlu Hotel Zurich Airport is only a short walk from the terminal, and coming in the airport entrance my first view was the amazing wine wall.

Coming in at 11PM and tired from my day in Taormina, I was a little worried by check in. The employee was in training so I had to ask most of the questions, such as internet and breakfast amenities, and there was no recognition of my Club Carlson Gold Status.

But when I arrived at my room, I realized that was just a blip. I had been upgraded to an Executive Club room with all the amenities. I actually had a view instead of the internal atrium (though I couldn’t see it til the next morning).

I had free internet, free breakfast, and apparently free minibar! The mini bar was only nuts and waters, but that’s all I needed!a sign with text on it

And there was a welcome note with Swiss chocolate.

The room had plenty of space and lots of outlets to recharge my electronics.  The decor involved a weird felt covered bench but a fantastic duvet cover.

The bathroom was also nice with heated towel racks. I still dislike the showers with half glass panel as I can never seem to keep the water within those bounds, but at least the hot water was HOT, not warm, and plentiful.

I slept great for the few hours I had and woke up early enough to try out my free breakfast in the restaurant downstairs. It was good, with a decent variety of hot and charcuterie options.

The hotel appeared to have other modern restaurants and a pretty hip gym, I just wish I had more time to check them out.

The Radisson Blu Hotel Zurich Airport is not cheap — it was $400+ for my night or 50,000 points. I went for the points redemption option, though it would have been great if the 15,000 points + $194 had been available. There where less expensive options in the area, but the luxury of walking from my plane to my hotel room and back was worth the extra!

  1. I stayed there for 2 nights in August, 2014. 50,000 points, 2nd night free. Got the same upgrade, but my view was of the tarmac.

  2. I have the same feelings toward Radisson Blu Hamburg Airport. As gold we got free breakfast, which by the way, was the best hotel breakfast I’ve had in the world!

  3. I see where Carlson is running a deal that you can get up 2K United miles for staying at a Radisson. That’s always nice…
