San Francisco Installs Pee-Proof Paint

San Francisco is tackling the problem of public urination by using the pee proof paint that made headlines in Hamburg this spring.

Via the San Francisco Chronicle, “hot spots” have been painted with the reflective paint. Some of the spots have warning signage, others less obvious cautions: Hold it! This wall is not a public restroom. Please respect San Francisco and seek relief in an appropriate placeâ€

I laughed when I read this quote

“The team that did the testing, they were excited because the liquid bounces back more than we thought it would. Anything we can do to deter people is a good thing.â€

  1. And in typical San Francisco fashion, the city council and mayor have opted rather to deal with the symptoms and not the problem. There’s a huge homeless problem that is never addressed, so we pretend it doesn’t exist and instead come up with costly and stupid solutions while ignoring the root of the problem. Are the homeless the only ones peeing on buildings? Doubtful. But are they likely the majority of offenders? Most definitely.
