August Sephora Play Box: Perversion, Blonde, and Energie de Vie
The August Sephora Play beauty box arrived! And I’m taking a much more critical eye than usual. $10 a month isn’t a ton of money, but with a place full of travel size samples and multiple boxes arriving every month, I’m starting to be more particular, especially since Birchbox devalued.
The good news is my most recent subscription is paying off. This month’s Sephora Play box is pretty exciting!
Of the 6 samples, only one was a dud. And that’s just because I’m not really into fragrance. Clean Reserve Blonde Rose ($25-$90) is nice, but too floral for me.
I can’t seem to get enough of new travel-size mascara samples — always looking for one that will last longer than my longest flight and without transferring to my eyelids or cheeks while I sleep. So definitely excited to try Urban Decay’s Perversion Mascara ($10-$22). Triple black pigment that apparently took 80 formulas to get right.
Shimmery shadow is in, as seen by the Manna Kadar Day Dream shadow that arrived in this month’s Birchbox. The Make Up For Ever Artist Shadow in I-544 ($21)Â looks a little pinker than I’m wont to wear, but always fun to try.
Definitely excited for the 12 hr waterproof Contour Eye Pencil ($10) from Sephora in taupe (though I wish it was darker).
The last two were perhaps my favorites as they seem the most useful in combating the wear and tear of travel!
The Lancome Energie de Vie Smoothing & Glowing Liquid Care Moisturizer ($55)Â claims to relieve dullness, diminish signs of fatigue, and promote a healthy looking glow. Always a good thing after a red-eye!
Ahhh, Caudalie. I love Caudalie, though I can rarely afford it. And I love anything that can help cover up the dark circles under my eyes so I don’t have to use foundation. Here’s hoping their Resveratrol Eye Lifting Balm ($62) does the trick!
This box was more than worth the $10 monthly subscription fee. Not only was there a 6th sample, but the value of the samples far exceed the price. The Caudalie sample alone is worth more than 10. 🙂 I have an annual subscription to Birchbox but thinking once it’s up at the end of the year I might just stick only with Sephora Play.
