AMEX Offer: $40 Off $50 Wine Purchase

You might have already seen this pop up under your AMEX Offers — get $40 off a $50 purchase at Martha Stewart Wine through September 30, 2017.a screenshot of a website

Normally I’m a little skeptical of such sites — either the quality of the wine is poor or the bottles are terribly overpriced or both. Think Vinesse. But with an 80% savings possible, I took a look.

Wines are available by the bottle for $12.49+ or in curated wine packs starting at around $50. Shipping is $9.99 or free with 12 bottles or more.a group of wine bottles and grapes on a table

A decent selection that doesn’t rely entirely on Californian and Washington wines. The West Coast makes some great wines, but they’re usually (over)priced accordingly, so the less you pay, the more uncertainty you’ll like them. If you’re getting inexpensive bottles at retail price, you’re much more likely to enjoy a $10 bottle from Europe or South America than you are the West Coast. No guarantees, just better odds.

While I’ll still be buying the majority of my wines from my favorite online wine sites, with the AMEX Offer its worth $21 to me, including shipping, to get 4 bottles.

The Martha Stewart Wine offer was appearing on my Platinum, personal and business SPG , and my Hilton AMEX. Terms & conditions state the offer can only be used once per account, so choose your card carefully.

  1. I stacked this with a groupon they were offering and used multiple cards across a few orders to get 21 bottles of wine for $56. Most of them have been decent so far. While none of them have been outstanding, you are right that they are much better than a $10 California bottle. I was glad to see a selection of French and Italian option and since my cost came out to $2.67 a bottle, i’m not complaining. 🙂
