Current Favorite Heels for Travel

I’ve been trying out some different heels this summer while traveling, exploring just how fast I can walk in comfortable super-high heels and how thin a heel I can go before I get caught in escalators, etc.

I currently have 3 pairs I’m in love with and wear as often as I can. (Although when traveling, try to avoid wearing the same pair two days in a row.)

Nine West Rocha Pumps
One of my most recent acquisitions. I picked up a pair in Dark Red Leather for $14 during a recent Macy’s clearance. I loved the color and price so much I bought them even though they were half a size smaller than what I usually wear.

They’re 4″ high, with a 1/2″ platform that makes the height of the heel easy to navigate. I really like the fact they have extra padding in the footbed and the toe area is pretty spacious. I think the sizing runs a little large because after 12 hours in my pair I didn’t feel squeezed at all.

Best part? They come in 20+ different colors.

BCBGeneration Brazen Pumps
There’s nothing I don’t love about these shoes. They’re sky high — 4 1/2″ heel with 1/2″ platform — with an elegant, slender heel. The peep toe opening doesn’t cut into the sides or tops of my toes. The beige color goes perfectly with everything and they have the most amazing arch support which makes them more comfortable than any of my shorter heels.

And I have definitely tested them, including my recent adventures making my connection in Fort Lauderdale. The only downside, they’re currently out of stock everywhere. I encourage you to stalk them on ebay and they run true to size.

American Eagle Amy Bow Wedge
A little clunkier than my usual style, but very comfortable and I love the jaunty little bow. They work with shorts, pants, and dresses which makes them a nice multi-purpose shoe when trying to travel light. And they’re perfect when my day might include a decent restaurant and wandering down a gravel path somewhere.

  1. I really like the “American Eagle Amy Bow Wedge.” I have a pair that is in black, but I am not sure of the heel size! Do you happen to know what it is ? I would appreciate it. 🙂
