What did I think about Aroma Actives?

I liked ’em. I don’t remember trying the citron based Crabtree & Evelyn products they had before, but I was perfectly happy with the Aroma Actives.

At first I was worried that the heavily floral scent that greets your nose would be a bit much, especially for travelers who prefer a more masculine scent, but once I the soap and shampoo was in my hands it developed into more of a citrus and spice scent that was both light and pleasant.

The lotion also went on lightly, though fortunately thick enough to avoid a watery feeling on the skin that so many hotel lotions have. The only thing I wasn’t crazy about was the results of the shampoo and conditioner which were clearly designed for folks with a thicker crop. My thin hair wound up very flat.

Random tip: if you have an upcoming DoubleTree stay don’t forget to check out the MVP rate before booking!

  1. This is a joke right? I noticed these right away, and sorry but its pretty obvious the change was to save money. The plastic bottles are very small and cheap–you’ll find it hard to compress the shampoo bottle to actually dispense the small amount of shampoo inside. And there’s no scent to speak of at all really. If I had to describe the scent of the shampoo, I’d say it mostly smells like dish soap. Unimpressed. And no, I don’t really want to win this contest, thanks.

  2. I agree with Glen’s posting. This is not an upgrade but actually a downgrade. Crabtree & Evelyn products are far superior and worth using or collecting for home use. Was not impressed with the new Aroma Actives products the last time I stayed at a Doubletree. Great way for Doubletree to figure out a way for guests to leave the toiletries alone.

  3. I like that the bottles are not tubes. I have had some crimped tubes’ ends pop or open up on their own. I would love to try it.

  4. I wonder if it would be very hard to get any reasonable amount of conditioner or lotion out of these tiny bottles…

  5. This seems like a downgrade – changing to a supermarket lotion from a boutique one. Hopefully lavender isn’t one of the essential oils or now Doubletree will hit the list of hotels where I can’t use the products also!

Am I the only one who misses the Neutrogena (I know..I know…drugstore also) line? I had a huge stockpile of the mini-face lotions!

  6. I would have to say that the Neutrogena products are my top Hilton products but I loved the rosy smell of the soap during my last stay at the DoubleTree! I would like to just be able to buy the soap separately.

  7. I wonder if Embassy Suites will be changing products as well? I’m happy that Hampton and HGI switched to Neutrogena, but really prefer Peter Thomas Roth of all of the Hilton lines. I’m excited to try something new!

  8. I haven’t stayed at a DT in years, but the new amenities look nice. I know they are working on rebranding the DT

  9. Stayed at a double tree Hilton in rocky mount North Carolina and was so Impressed with the accommodations. The front desk were all so professional and couldn’t do enough for us. Loved the cookies too. But the toiletries were wonderful. I love love loved them and only wish I could purchase them. I looked on the Internet and couldn’t find where I can purchase them. Could you please let me know where I could purchase these wonderful products. Thank you.

  10. I liked the Aroma oroducts. They made my hair look and feel great! The bottles were a little difficult to squeeze but the product itself was great! I would buy the hair care products. I use AG hair care products this was as good or better!

  11. I have stayed at several hotels, most of the soaps and shampoo make me itch while I’m trying to sleep, but when I stayed at the Double Tree in Springfield MO. about two weeks ago and had no problems sleeping. I liked the soaps so much I brought the unfinished bar home for my wife to try and she has been looking for the same products at every store we go into. If this product is for sale to general public please let me know where I can get some.

  12. I love the scent of the essentials repairing body lotion. It smells like roses and sunflowers. I was wondering if you were selling bigger lotion bottles. Please notify me if you do.

  13. My daughter and I stay in one of your hotels in Oklahoma City, OK and it was being remodeled, but the staff was super nice and accomadating. I alway take the travel size stuff to my son and now I must order more of the soap, it actually helped with some skin issues and he fell in love with it.
