Computer Issue Grounds All United Airlines Flights

Just a head’s up if you’re traveling this morning: United Airlines main computer system SHARES, which has all the reservations information, went down this morning, grounding flights nationwide. The worst part was the lack of communication — flights just disappeard off airport status boards and United still hasn’t posted any updates or alerts on their website.

Passengers are sharing their experiences on this Flyertalk thread (h/t David):

just got deplaned….was told they put us on the wrong plane and they don’t know which plane we are supposed to be on, so hang out in the gate area until we can find your plane/gate

According to AirLive.net, the ground stop has now been lifted for flights on United Airlines sub-carriers.
