2 Ways to Earn Extra Miles & Bonuses for Eating Out

Nothing revolutionary in this post, but if you’re just getting into miles and points you might find this helpful. And for those more advanced, perhaps a useful reminder to make sure your credit cards are up to date!

Here are two ways that you can be taking advantage of earning extra airline miles, points, and even Amazon gift cards for eating at restaurants without having to change your current routine or get special credit cards (though the Chase Sapphire Visa is a great option if you have alot of restaurant spend).

Register Your Credit Cards With Dining Rewards

This company offers you miles or points for dining at participating restaurants. It doesn’t take long to take advantage of this free program.

  1. Sign up for one of their partner programs (list below)
  2. Register your credit card(s)
  3. Use the card to pay your restaurant or bar tab

Most of the programs have a mult-tier earning option — the more times you dine at participating restaurants, the more miles you earn per dollar. Note, you can only associate a credit card with one program, so if you want to earn points or miles with multiple hotels or airlines, you should register a different credit card with each.

Note: Many of these programs offer periodic sign up bonuses for new members, so it might be worth waiting a little while to see if one comes up.

Reservations Through Open Table

Open Table is a free reservation service that offers points for dining at restaurants reserved through their site. They’ve recently overhauled their rewards system which now offers restaurant gift cards or Amazon gift cards. Most reservations are worth 100 points, though select restaurants will sometimes offer 1,000 point reservations on certain days and times. 2,000 points is the minimum redemption for a $20 dining gift card.

The best part about Open Table? They also offer a mobile app and reservations can be made even minutes before you arrive if there’s availability. In the past I’ve booked a reservation when walking in the door. 🙂

    1. That’s great to know! I’d never heard of Mogl, I wonder if you can double dip with cards registered for both mogl and dining rewards.
