Google Flights Adding New Feature to Find Cheapest Flights
Google Flights is my default tool for finding the cheapest flights for a pre-determined destination. (Previously I was a big fan of ITA Matrix before they were bought by Google, which I still use for more complicated itineraries.) Not only do they offer tips on cheaper days and airports, but you can also sign up for alerts when prices change.
Soon Google Flights will be adding an even better feature (h/t: Mashable) that will help reduce buyer anxiety about whether you’re getting the best deal. Similar to how Orbitz and other sites will tell you that that only X tickets are left at that price, Google will soon let you know how long a sale is expected to last or when the price is likely to increase.
Definitely helpful in knowing whether you’re looking at the usual fare or if you need to firm up your plans quickly. Never forget that sales can end early and deals can disappear, so if you do find a great fare, jump on it quickly and either hold it or take advantage of most sites’ 24 hour free cancellation period.
