2012 Holiday Travel Up, But Not As Bad As Summer?
AAA has released their 2012 holiday travel forecast, including a predicted 4.5% increase in air travel this year.
What I found most interesting was the reference to 2006/2007 season being the high mark for the last decade. Not surprising, but interesting, since I’d just found a 2007 article in USA Today pointing out that “Neither the Christmas nor Thanksgiving travel seasons are the busiest of the year.”
It made me wonder how 2012 summer travel stacked up. Will the airport/plane craziness I experienced earlier this year exceed my experience next week? I certainly hope so! 🙂
I took a stab at accessing the raw stats mentioned in the USA Today article to see if I could do a rough crunch of the numbers, but when I finally did get the spreadsheet to download I found it beyond my mental capacity for a lazy Saturday morning…If anyone else has heard news or data on this, would love to know!
