The Worst Credit Card News I’ve Heard in Awhile and Why It Hurts

I saw the news on Frequent Miler yesterday morning, and my heart broke a little. The Club Carlson Visa and Club Carlson Business Visa are eliminating the bonus night award feature.
In my opinion, this perk was even better than earning top hotel status through spend. You’d get one of your award nights free on a 2+ night stay. Basically every two nights (if you were willing to move around) for the price of one. I took advantage of this in Vienna, staying at the Radisson Blu Style for only 50,000 points for two nights.
While Radisson isn’t my favorite chain, they have some nicer international properties and the free night was a great value, particularly in expensive European cities. Frequent Miler reports that May 28 is the last date to claim bonus nights, I need to call them myself and find out if the May 28 deadline is for booking or staying 🙁
They’re replacing it with a free night after $10,000 in spend, but since they’re not my preferred chain, I’ll probably choose to spend on other cards.
