Supreme Court Rules Non-Authorized Rental Car Drivers Have 4th Amendment Rights & More
Headlines and highlights from around the web:
- A China Sichaun Airlines pilot was “half sucked out of the plane” after the windshield suddenly cracked. Fortunately he only sustained a sprained wrist and facial cuts.
- This will probably impact very few of us, but still good to know. Yesterday the Supreme Court rule unanimously that non-authorized rental car drivers do not automatically forfeit their Fourth Amendment rights just because they are not listed on the rental agreement. Law enforcement still needs to obtain permission before searching your car. With the rise in civil asset forfeiture, avoiding having your car searched even if you’re completely innocent is a good idea.
- The Washington, DC area had some terrific storms last night, Dulles Airport in particular was hit hard and tornado warnings sent everyone into the underground train tunnels. Adam Blickstein captured the craziness on Twitter.

- May’s Glossybox has a travel theme, but I’m not sure they’ve captured my “must-haves” for travel. Among the six items in this month’s box are DHC Skincare’s Deep Cleansing Oil, a deluxe mini of the new fragrance launch by Proenza Schouler, a full size color cosmetic, and John Masters Organics’ shampoo and conditioner.
- Alaska Airlines is pulling its planes and pilots from New York. Starting in September, flights SFO and LAX might drop to only one or two a day.
- Golf courses, solar panels, and car dealerships are a few of the alternate revenue sources some airports are using to fund terminal improvements.
- The New York Times did a piece on a recent Marriot Rewards Insider get together.
