Earn 1550 United Miles With a One Day Hertz Rental
Hertz and United Airlines are running a promo through October 31, 2015 offering 1,500 United miles if you book a mid-size or larger vehicle through the United website.
What’s interesting is that as far as I can tell from the website and terms & conditions, you can earn the 1,500 United Mileage Plus miles on a one day rental.
To earn the 500 miles requires a 5 day rental, otherwise you earn 50 miles per rental day. But it looks like the only requirement to get the 1,500 mile bonus is an eligible rental booked through the United website with the appropriate discount codes and picked up by October 31. Which means a one day rental should qualify for it!
I haven’t tested this out yet, so your results may vary.
Here are the terms & conditions from the email:
Use discount code (CDP) 62455 to save up to 40% on qualifying Hertz rentals. Reservation must be for a mid-size or larger car and include CDP 62455, PC 305023 and be booked through united.com to qualify for 1,500 bonus miles. Include your MileagePlus number when you make a reservation or provide the number when you pick up the car to earn miles. Hertz age, driver, credit and qualifying rate restrictions for the renting location apply. Taxes, tax reimbursement, governmental surcharges and optional services, such as refueling, are extra. Modifying your reservation may result in a change in your rate and/or invalidate this offer. This offer has no cash value and may not be used with tour rates, insurance/dealer replacement rates, pre-paid tour rates, or combined with any other offer, discount, coupon or promotion. The savings of up to 40% apply to time and mileage charges only; discount varies by rental date, location and vehicle type. Frequent Flyer Surcharge of $0.75 per day may apply. Miles will not be awarded on travel industry rates, wholesale tour packages, insurance/dealer replacement, any other promotional rates or group travel. If the number of award miles earned by a member for any Hertz rental exceeds 500 miles, the 500 base award miles will post to the member’s account first, and any miles earned in excess of 500 miles will separately post within 5 business days.
Have tried it. It works.
Meaning one-day rentals work.
Thanks! 🙂
You also earn additional miles based on your UA status. Credit card holders earn an additional 250 miles, Silver and Gold members earn an additional 500 miles, and Platinum, 1K, and Global Service members earn an additional 750 miles. So, you can earn up to 2,250 UA miles for a 1-day Hertz rental!
Made a booking through the United site for a Hertz rental in Guam, using the appropriate codes. Hertz only will offer the 500 base miles, and refuses the 1,500 offer – they claim the PC# was on the reservation but not the contract. Well whose fault is that??
