“World’s Most Useless Airport” Finally Opens, Free Hertz Elite Status & More
Headlines & highlights from around the web:
- This post caught my eye! Via Doctor of Credit, register to get free Hertz Elite Status. It will take a few days for the Hertz President’s Circle status to reflect in your account and you’ll likely want to use a different CDP (coupon/discount) code than Lufthansa for better pricing. Check the comments for more details.
The perks are good, not amazing — free one-car-class upgrade, confirmed vehicle availability, 25% bonus points, etc. But since this is free, why not register in case you have a rental come up? I was actually hoping for something like this earlier this year but recently qualified for free Hertz President’s Circle status through my United 1K status match challenge. - “The World’s Most Useless Airport” is finally open! Previously the remote island of St. Helena had only been accessible by ship. Interesting article on how the island is having to prepare for tourism, and flying, well in advance of any flights actually being scheduled.
- If you’re interested in taking one of the last Royal Mail Ship runs to St. Helena, consider joining Rapid Travel Chai in January. His adventures and perspective on the many countries he’s visited are always interesting. If you don’t follow him on Instagram, you should!
- Want to drink wine in the shower? Or even have a burger without it getting wet? Apparently there’s a gadget for that…And it’s only $13.95 on Amazon. Actually not a terrible idea for bathtubs that don’t have surfaces wide enough to safely hold a glass.
- The man who tried to bomb Asheville Airport was caught because he tried to earn cash back.
- Plans for a luxury underwater hotel in the Red Sea that would feature underwater bedrooms that allow guests to view sea-life from their beds are causing ecological concerns. Love the idea, not the possible impact on the environment.
