November’s Birchbox
November’s shipment was understandably delayed by Hurricane Sandy, so I was excited when it finally arrived last week! I’ve never been good at reading directions though, so at first glance, I was a bit disappointed since I didn’t realize two of the items were contained in the handy resusable gift pouch. Duh.
One I did realize that, I was pretty happy with this month:
There was a tube of ModelCo FIBRE LASHXTEND lengthening mascara that also had a handy mirror on the side of the bottle. Again, not very good at reading directions because the first time I used it, I didn’t see much difference in my lash length. Then rereading the instructions, I realized I needed to twist the wand in the bottle prior to use. The second go was better, but it’s not water resistant, so not a good choice with allergies or sad movies.
Next up was stila’s all over shimmer liquid luminizer. Haven’t tried it yet, but you can’t go wrong with a luminescent foundation for the holidays.
Inside the pouch were two more items — a small bottle of Jouer Fragrance Cornucopia which was far too fruity for me and a packet of Lulu Organics’ Lavender + Clary Sage Hair Powder which I’m super excited about. I plan to try it out on the next cross country trip that leaves my hair less than optimal.
In addition to the token food item, the Soy Joy cranberry snack pack, there was also a holiday gift guide for the beauty inclined and a gift certificate to Chromaticgallerie.
My friend, who has the same profile as me except for hair color, a preference for fragrance, and selected income level was also pretty pleased with her box!
She did get the gift certificate, but not the holiday guide. We’ve tried to figure out if that had to do with our profiles or just a packing error. Her token food was a crazy Chuao firecracker chocolate bar with sea salt, smokey chipotle, pop rocks, and dark chocolate. Survey says…not a winning combination!
The rest of the box was great though — a bottle of ModelCo SHINE Ultra Lip Gloss in Strip Tease. I swapped my Jouer for this, once again reveling in the mini mirror on the side! There was also a can of Oscar Blandi Texture & Volume Spray.
In her gift pouch, which she had no problem understanding, was a mini packet of Stella Cadente Miss Me Eau de Parfum which pretty much smelled just like baby powder (neither of our tastes). Also included was a tube of per-fekt beauty Brow Perfection Gel. At first try, the gel was visibly on the skin rather than the brow, but it probably would have worked if it had been the right color.
