Big Savings by Stalking Your Amazon Shopping Cart

Does anyone else do this? When there’s an item on Amazon I want, but don’t need, I plop it in my shopping cart, hit save for later, and log in once (sometimes multiple times a day) to see if the price has dropped.

Invalid request error occurred.

Instant gratification it’s not, but in the case of the [amazon_link id=”B0012J0YEK” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Chirp dinnerware[/amazon_link] I wanted (eventually dropped from $83.95 to $72.95, saving me $44 on a 4 pc setting) or various pairs of traveling shoes it means eventually I get what I want at the price I want it and Hawaiian Air miles.

I waited 3 months for this [amazon_link id=”B003MU9PK6″ target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Epicurean cutting board[/amazon_link] to drop from $50.97 to $29.17 . 🙂Invalid request error occurred.

Now that Amazon no longer offers a post-order price guarantee (with the exception of 14 for TV purchases) and aggressively changes prices to meet other retailers, this is a pretty good option.

If logging in daily is more chore than fun for you, there are tracking softwares that will will notify you of new lower prices. Here are just a few (untested by me but reviewed further here):

So if you don’t need some indulgence item immediately, throw it in the cart and wait. And don’t forget to go through the Hawaiian Airlines shopping portal to earn 1 pt/$.

  1. I use http://www.unimerc.com to for an amazon price tracker. They have nice charts and let you set price alerts so you get emailed when the price drops. They also help you find items that have recently dropped in price.
