Packing for the Labor Day Weekend

Long weekends can be the toughest to pack for. Just enough time that one change of clothes isn’t going to cut it, but not long enough that you can justify checking a bag. This Labor Day has me particularly stumped though.

List:

  • Sundresses
  • Sandals for walking
  • Pair of heels for going out
  • Camera
  • Swimsuit
  • Cover up
  • Sunscreen
  • Flip flops
  • Flashlight
  • Waders?
  • Non-perishable food?

One guess where my trip was booked…

Looks like the hotel has power though, and the New Orleans airport re-opened last night so you can look forward to some post-Isaac trip reports soon. It probably won’t be the foodie trip I had planned on though, unless they start receiving deliveries soon and I’m going to look into whether there are some clean up efforts I can participate in. At the very least I’ll be there doing my part to bolster the local economy…

  1. If your headed to New Orleans I would double check the reservation directly with the hotel. It would not be out of the question for a hotel in that area to give away your room to a local who is displaced due to flooding, etc. Most likely not a problem but it would be worth a phone call ahead to make sure. You don’t want to land there and not have a room. It’s is common in New Orleans for the locals to check into hotels that have more than 2 stories to stay out of possible flooding since the city is so low.
