US Airways Automatically Checking On My Upgrades Before the Upgrade Window?

When my wings were clipped a couple of weeks ago do to wisdom teeth surgery, I used the time to book mileage runs and trips for every other weekend in June and July 🙂 Including one to Florida in a couple of weeks via Expedia.
So when I got an email from US Airways this weekend titled “Your First Class Upgrade Status” I didn’t think twice. Nor was I particularly surprised as a Platinum I hadn’t been upgraded.
Until I scrolled through the email.
So it was too early for my US Airways flights to have cleared, but the segments on Silver Airlines didn’t have first class?? So why were they emailing me?
A double check of the calendar and I realized they were emailing me at least 8 days before my flights, well before the Chairman upgrade window, much less the Platinum. Well, maybe it was a glitch. And I’d rather have the system checking more often on my behalf than less 🙂
Then I got another email this morning, still a week or so out from the flights. Now I’m just feeling taunted…
Has anyone else received super early upgrade emails?

I do not get these emails from Delta. What feels like taunting to me though is when there are clearly a lot of seats available in First/Business class well before the day and they have not been assigned properly to Diamond/Platinum status customers.
