The Slightly Repetitious January Sample Society Box
My January Birchbox and Sample Society boxes arrived on the same day and this month, Birchbox definitely won. It’s not that I didn’t like the Sample Society contents, but it felt rather repetitious.
I immediately jumped on the Butter London Handbag Holiday Cuticle Oil. Probably TMI, but the combo of cold weather and washing my hands frequently during travel has really taken a toll. Thank goodness for the little instructional sticker though, which I only noticed after several failed attempts to get the cover off.
The next set of items weren’t quite as exciting. I’m always pleased to see a new facial cream, so the StriVecting Present Perfect antioxident cream was well received. Though it’s housed in a deceptively large box (the actual bottle is smaller than the Hope in a Jar) it has a nice fragrance and light feel.
The Hope in a Jar Moisturizer pleased me less. Don’t get me wrong, I like Philosophy products, but I received the Hope in a Jar night moisturizer last month and this made a second face cream in one shipment.
I don’t use fragrance and the Nicole Richie Eau de Parfum did not tempt me to start, so I’ll pass over that quickly. I like Jane Iredale lip products alot. In fact, I really liked the Forever Pink Just Kissed Lip & Cheek Stain the first time it arrived, in my September box.
I’m not quite ready to give up on the box, but with Birchbox and Glossybox improving (and costing less with annual subscriptions) I’m not sure how much longer I’ll stick it out. Did anyone have better contents in their box?
