Another Plane Crash: Air Algerie Flight From Burkina Faso

By  |

I was sitting in a meeting this morning when a co-worker mentioned an Air Algerie flight had apparently dropped off the radar. By the time the meeting ended the status had updated to crashed. Apparently 116 people were on board and the reason for the crash is still unknown.

A screengrab of the homepage of the Ouagadougou airport's Internet site (http://www.aeroport-ouagadougou.com) shows a map displaying AH5017's last contact zone

This has been a rough week for air travel, with this news coming just a day after the TransAsia flight crashed in Taiwan due to weather and a week after the Malyasia Air flight was shot down in the Ukraine. While I’m not still not afraid to fly, it definitely has brought to mind all the different ways that things can go wrong and I ache for everyone affected by these tragic events.
