My Must Have Gamble Paid Off

a box with a variety of items

Last month I wrote about PopSugar’s deal on the September Must Have box. $35 and guaranteed to get a Tilo Scarf worth $125. I’ve been underwhelmed by their selections in the past, but since I love scarves as a practical accessory staying warm during fall travel (and changing up my look) I decided to risk it.
And this was one of the better boxes!

There was, of course, the Tilo scarf which is deliciously soft and a useful gray/reddish color (it’s called raisin but it’s way more attractive than that). Excuse the bad selfie!a woman smiling for the camera
There was two food options, which I’m usually strongly against, but the Ghirardelli sea salt & almond minis was a generous size (and a bonus item) and the Urban Remedy almond brownie ($6) came with a $10 gift card to their online store.

I was really excited to see the Nicole Miller Stereo Earbuds ($20) since I can never have too many to keep tucked in my laptop and carry-on if they’re comfortable. And the Oribe Superfine Purse Size (and travel size!) Hair Spray ($21.50) for the same reason!

The Rifle Paper Co Garance Dore assorted stationary card set ($18) was rather cool, but the Letter C Design Gold Foil Arrow Pencils ($5) didn’t excite me, even though it came with a sharpener (thank goodness!).

The last item was an unexpected bonus. It was a measurement set to try out the new custom fit Nike Pro Bra which comes in 25 sizes and instructions for how to order online and redeem the $20 gift card that was included. I haven’t been online yet to check out the prizes, but rather happy about this.

This was definitely an improvement over previous boxes, but I think I’ll still hold out and only indulge when they’ve partnered with brands I know I want (like the Tilo scarf) or when it has more of a travel than a seasonal theme. If you got the box what did you think?

  1. You know how I feel about PopSugar boxes – I’ve been getting them since the very first one, and I LOVE them. Sure, some are (way) better than others, but for the most part I love at least 2-3 items per box. I think it also helps that I have an 11-year-old daughter who is the happy recipient of the goodies that I don’t want or need. Her stocking is always easily filled at Christmas 😉

  2. lol… you are ALL enablers. Just put in a subscription. The stocking stuffer idea is brilliant. I need to start doing that with my Ipsy and Birchbox less loved items too!

    1. Enablers are the best sort of friends! For example, should I get those red sparkly peep toe heels I saw yesterday?

  3. I’m definitely going to be doing the stocking stuffer idea! Another fun idea a friend is experimenting with is holding swap parties to exchange the items you didn’t want. I went to one and felt like I got 5 new boxes.
