How to Ensure You Get the Best Price at Amazon, Macys, BestBuy, Target & More
Last year I discovered Paribus, a cool new site that lets you take advantage of post-purchase price drops and price protection without having to do a thing.
How Does Paribus Work?
- Price Drops
You link your email account (that part still makes me a little uneasy) and they pull receipts from participating merchants automatically. If the price on something you bought drops, they automatically file for a refund on your behalf. For me, this helps simplify holiday shopping and with all the sales, this can really add up! (Though based on my dashboard, I’m pretty good at finding the best price.) - Price Protection
This is a cool new feature they’ve added since last year. Many credit cards offer price protection for 90 days (significantly longer than retailers). So if you link your eligible Chase credit card (Citi, Capital One, and Discover coming soon), they’ll automatically file claims on your behalf. This is particularly great for big purchases and all things Amazon!
Which Merchants Does Paribus Cover?
- Amazon (note only applies to price protection through Chase credit cards)
- Bloomingdale’s
- Macy’s
- BestBuy
- NewEgg
- Staples
- Target
- Bonobos
- J.Crew
- Zappos
- Nordstrom
- Banana Republic
- Gap
- Old Navy
- Athleta
- Walmart
- Kohl’s
- Office Depot
- Overstock
- Apple
- Saks Fifth Avenue
- Costco
- Home Depot
- Sears
What Does Paribus Get Out Of It?
There’s no charge to sign up. If they find a lower price they take a 25% commission on your refund.
And you can lower the commission percentage by referring friends via social media when you first sign up. Note: Apparently you only get this opportunity when signing up, so don’t waste it!
