MoviePass Drops Prices to $6.99, TSA Fees Will Not Increase, Green Chile Wine & More
Highlights and headlines from around the web:
-
- MoviePass, a monthly subscription service that lets users view one 2D movie a day in the theaters, has just dropped their prices even more. Formerly $9.99 a month, new subscribers can now sign up for an annual subscription at $89.99–$6.99/mo + small handling fee. The only drawback is annual subscriptions are now the only option for new users. If like me, you enjoy the occasional movie but don’t want to pay movie theater prices this is good, but the switch from monthly to annual has me concerned it won’t be around much longer.
- The omnibus bill passed and it looks like TSA fees will not be increasing to $6.60 for each connecting flight.
- Via Slickdeals, Amazon has PackTowl, microfiber quick-drying towels, on sale starting at $6.99, $8.99 for the luxe line. I’ve been looking for a travel face cloth for longer trips to replace my preferred muslin cloth. Going to give these a try, so stay tuned for a review.
- Good news for (now) Airbnb and other home stays in Los Angeles, a Venice judge ruled short stay rentals are not breaking city law.
- Yesterday marked the anniversary of F.A. Hayek’s death, one of my intellectual heros. A few years ago I made a hilarious, and nearly disastrous, pilgrimage to his grave. Apparently that inspired a reader to make the trip himself (scroll to end of article). Looks like he had a much easier time finding it. 🙂
- I shouldn’t be surprised, New Mexico makes a Green and Red chile wine. I really like the bubbly made by Gruet. And I like spicy foods and beverages…guess I’m going to have track down a bottle of the chile wine to see what I think.

If you find that chilli wine, I’ll make fajitas to go with it!
