50,000 US Airways Miles for $89

Get a head start on award travel for next year! In advance of the US Airways and American Airline programs combining, Barclay Card has increased the sign up bonus for the US Airways MasterCard from 40,000 to 50,000 miles. And there’s no minimum spend requirement to get the bonus, 50,000 miles will be awarded after your first purchase.

The US Airways Mastercard is one of both Jeanne and my primary cards, despite the recent changes to the benefits. Even if you haven’t been flying or collecting US Airways Dividend Miles, you should consider signing up for the card (if you don’t carry a balance). 50,000 miles can get you one domestic first class ticket or two economy tickets. Or it gets you close to having the 60,000 miles needed for a ticket to South America, Europe, or North Asia.

And if you do fly US Airways, getting the card is even more worth it:

  • One free checked bag
  • Zone 2 boarding
  • 25% off inflight food and beverage purchases
  • Travel companion certificate (which is being phased out soon!)

Note: We do not receive affiliate credit for applications submitted through the links above, and even if we did, we still wouldn’t recommend any cards or services that we wouldn’t suggest to friends and family or use ourselves. 🙂

  1. Any news on the apparently discontinued US Airways Businesscard? It had been on offer with a 25k miles bonus…until just a few days ago, when all links stopped working. Does anyone know if Barclay is planning to offer the businesscard with a bigger bonus or simply eliminate the card entirely before the AA-US programs fully merge?

  2. I have a Barclay Arrival card, which I like, but besides that, I don’t know much about reward cards. Is this a good deal? Is there any reason not to apply?
