[Gone] Act Fast! Business Class Tickets to Asia from West Coast for $620+
Thanks to an email alert from Scott’s Cheap Flights, I’ve spent the morning booking business class tickets to Asia!
Hong Kong Airways has business class tickets from the West Coast to select destinations in Asia starting in the low $600s. Travel dates span September 2018 – March 2019. These are decent prices to Asia in economy, much less in Business class!
San Francisco to:
- Bali (DPS)
- Bangkok (BKK)
- Ho Chi Minh (SGN)
- Shanghai (PVG)
Los Angeles to:
- Bali (DPS)
- Bangkok (BKK)
- Ho Chi Minh (SGN)
- Manila (MNL)
- Shanghai (PVG)
The best part is some Thanksgiving dates are included, you just have to play around with the exact dates from your departure city. Scott’s Cheap Flights notes they had good luck finding fares particularly on Mondays and Thursdays.
Use Google Flights to search for available flights.
These fares will likely not last long, so book quickly and use the 24 hour free cancellation to decide if you actually want to go. Since these fares are really cheap for business class, hold off making any other nonrefundable bookings for a week or so, until it is clear whether the airline will honor them.
If you want more timely alert about fares like this, I highly recommend signing up for Scott’s Cheap Flights’ free or premium email alerts.
Here are a few tips and observations I made when I was trying to book these fares (which appear to still be available):
- Google flights is slow to load the Hong Kong Airline fares, and when they do, they might return a “price not available” fare. Once you’ve selected your preferred flights, the booking page then might show the $600s price on Orbitz or Expedia.
- If you can’t find cheap fares on your preferred dates, trying going a day earlier or later. I couldn’t get the cheap flights to price out for the Monday after Thanksgiving but had no trouble on the Tuesday.
- I tried, unsucessfully, for 30-45 minutes on Orbitz and Expedia to book the $688 fare from SFO-BKK and kept getting the message that the “fare price has changed.” A little while later, I decided to try booking the flights which now showed in the $4,000s. When I got to the purchase page, the price dropped back down to $688.
- I only had success booking flights one passenger at a time, no cheap flights showed up when searching for two or three passengers.
Looks to be dead. I was like 30 minutes too late on this one 🙁
