According to Facebook I’m Crazy

Or a crook. The following status message popped up in my Facebook feed yesterday.

My first reaction was How is that weird? I wonder what credit card the guy was using and what bonus he was going for.

But clearly I was in the minority. Of the 12 comments in 5 hours, only one person seemed remotely familiar with reasons for doing that, everyone else assumed stolen credit cards.

Always a shot of reality to realize even my friends don’t really understand me (except for Jeanne of course). 🙂 I don’t know if this is better or worse then finding out several people just assumed from my pictures I now lived abroad permanently.

  1. Well, I’ve always thought you looked a bit shifty. I was in my friendly neighborhood office supply store buying gift cards and the cashier actually has now memorized my e-mail address for receipts. Got a good chuckle out of that.

Don’t worry. You’re among friends. Or co-dependents. All good.

  2. I stopped posting tips about deals (not MS) on my facebook page because I would get comments that by using a credit card online or getting a good deal would get their identity stolen or something.

  3. I saw one a few weeks ago on FB where someone posted that they had their CC # stolen and it was used at a 7-11 for $450 or so. Everyone posting said the bank should have caught that as fraud as no one would ever spend that much… I just watched the comments fly while I smiled to myself….
