Can You Book One Way Flights on Spirit Air?

By  |

This is a common question that comes up. I’ll give you the short answer first.

spirit airlinesThe one-way flights was the reason I booked our family’s first trip on Spirit Airlines. We were going to Michigan for a weekend, then the kids and I were heading to Florida a few days later.

The more I thought about it, the more it made sense to go to Detroit, to Orlando, then back to DFW rather than fly to Detroit and back, just to leave a few days later to Orlando. This is what got me started researching Spirit Air and learning the rules and the ways to save money flying with them.

Our tickets for all three legs came to $240 each, $720 total for three of us. That was a much better deal than any thing else available at the time. And an obsession was born.

She first started getting interested in deals when her husband showed her the tricks to getting bought off your flights back in the late 90s. She started flying nonrev when they got married; the first unusual nonrev she did was in '05 when her family flew through San Juan to get to Dallas from Philly. They have two boys, ages 11 and 7, who she usually drags along on their travels and hopes they will grow up to love traveling as much as she does.
