New Site Compares Fares for Taxi, Uber, Lyft & More
Ever wondered which car service was the cheapest? Or if you’re really saving money by taking UberX instead of a taxi? I just stumbled upon Ride Guru a great website that not only lets you calculate the cost of taking a cab to your destination, but compares it to various ridesharing options like Uber and Lyft as well.
I don’t always have time to toggle back and forth to check the difference in fare estimates for UberX and Uber black, much less add in Lyft or Taxi Magic. Now I can do it within seconds. 🙂
Turns out Ride Guru is an extension of Taxi Fare Finder, a site I used for years when traveling to new cities to find out how much a cab from the airport would cost.

I recently found RideGuru too and I love it, such a time saver!
If RideGuru wants to be credible, they need to get their FACTS right!
FLAT rate for taxis from downtown LA is just that $46.50, that’s why it’s called flat rate!!! There is NO “Initial Fare”! And tip is VOLUNTARY!
An actual estimate of fare from UberX on 4/11/15 at around 6 pm quoted a rate of $43 (a 1.9X surge price). The actual cost, including MANDATORY 20% charge would make it more then $50 and conscientious passengers add a tip to that because none of the 20% actually go to the driver, making the actual cost of a trip from Biltmore Hotel to LAX about $60 (15% tip)!
The taxi fare, including 15% tip actually cost $53.50, REGARDLESS of traffic or the rout or the type of vehicle!!!
If you are going to pander to companies like Uber, you should STATE that upfront!
$30 referral code, greatly appreciated if you use mine: https://www.lyft.com/invited/AC615920
Having a regular driver you can trust may outweigh the additional cost. I know we cost more than some of the local taxi’s but we know each and every one of our guests by name and can help them usually within 15 minutes. Plus our guests are our friends.
Just stumbled upon this post of yours and rideguru. The prices were off for lyft by 20% for a ride I just took.
